Het was vooraf bekend dat het een spannende wedstrijd zou gaan worden in de Borgh tussen Groene Ster en Desk. Desk is nog ongeslagen en Groene Ster heeft (onnodig) wat punten laten liggen maar draait ook prima mee in de top van de competitie. Dat het een spannende wedstrijd zou gaan worden was ook te zien aan het aantal toeschouwers dat we hadden, de tribune zat aardig vol.
De heren van Groene Ster begonnen weer eens een wedstrijd scherp. Bij een tegengoal zorgde het snelle spel van Groene Ster ervoor dat er binnen enkele secondes weer gescoord werd. Helaas werd het scherpe en snelle spel af en toe afgewisseld door gehaast spel, hierdoor hadden we onnodig balverlies wat resulteerde in tegengoals. Tot aan de 15e minuut was er nog niks aan de hand voor de mannen van Groene Ster, verdediging stond aardig en aanvallend werden de ballen goed afgerond. Rond de 15e minuut werd het spel stilgelegd door de scheidsrechter i.v.m. lichte blessure van Jesper. De stand op dat moment was 10-7 in het voordeel van Groene Ster. In plaats van het scorebord op ‘pauze’ te zetten werd hij helemaal uitgezet en hadden we een oponthoud van ongeveer 5 minuten. Na alles weer goed ingesteld te hebben is het spel weer hervat. De scherpte aan de kant van Groene Ster was er even af en dit resulteerde tot fouten in de aanval en het incasseren van goals. Binnen een aantal minuten was de voorsprong van 10-7 veranderd naar een achterstand van 10-12, hierna herpakte de heren zich weer en er werd om en om gescoord door beide teams. Ruststand was 13-16 in het voordeel van Desk.
In de rust was het duidelijk, Groene Ster moet in de tweede helft gaan vechten voor de twee punten. Desk kwam sterk uit de kleedkamer en daar ging het plan van Groene Ster. De achterstand werd niet verkleind maar juist vergroot door Desk, mede door een aantal pingels die gegeven werden. ?Op een kwartier voor tijd stond de uitploeg nog met 5 punten voor en er werd om en om gescoord. En wederom kreeg Desk weer een pingel, alleen deze werd goed tegengehouden door Thomas. Vanaf dat moment ging het publiek zich met de wedstrijd bemoeien en pepte de heren van Groene Ster op, wat zorgde voor een hele sterke periode aan de kant van Groene Ster. Het geloof was weer terug in de wedstrijd en de punten waren binnen handbereik. Door verdedigend een kleine aanpassing door te voeren wist Desk niet meer te scoren. Vrijwel alles wat ze probeerde werd gered door het blok of de keeper. Aanvallend werden de kansen goed afgerond en vijf minuten voor tijd was de achterstand eindelijk weggewerkt. Laatste minuten bleven enorm spannend, de wedstrijd kon nog alle kanten op. De mannen van Desk hadden door het sterke spel van Groene Ster geen geloof meer in de winst en gingen vol voor het gelijkspel, alleen dit mocht niet zo zijn. Een minuut voor tijd kwam Groene Ster door het snelle spel op voorsprong en ging vol in de verdediging. Desk probeerde nog wel maar schoot in het blok met nog 20 seconde te spelen. De afvallende bal kwam bij Thomas in zijn handen. Iedereen dacht dat hij zelf op goal zou gooien om tijd te winnen, maar dat was niet zijn plan. Richard was namelijk in de break-out en zorgde voor de eindstand van 27-25. De ontlading was groot aan de kant van Groene Ster na het eindsignaal. Groene Ster heeft deze wedstrijd op vechtlust en wilskracht gewonnen. ?”We hebben vandaag van onszelf gewonnen” aldus coach van Toorn.
Aankomende zaterdag mogen de heren naar Gemert voor een wedstrijd tegen Tremeg.
